Full Size Mattress Dimensions

Full size mattress dimensions is something of a misnomer because there is no absolute, precise standard that mattress manufacturers must adhere to when designating a conventional mattress or an air mattress as a twin or a queen.

That being said the market itself has established full size mattress dimensions and unless the manufacturer says otherwise you can have reasonable assurance that the air mattress you buy will be close to the full size mattress dimensions in the table below.

There are no standard full size mattress depths. Most innerspring mattresses are 9-10 inches deep, but many pillow top mattresses measure 15-16 inches in depth, or even more. Box springs and other bed components can make the mattress even higher.

Adjustable air mattresses have even more variability in depth (but not in rectangular measurements) than innerspring mattresses. Camping air mattresses, and most other inexpensive air mattresses are about 7 inches high. The more expensive full size air mattress like this queen-sized Intex Air Mattress can get to 15 inches high when you add the foam, pillow tops, and digital air pumps that permit individualized settings.

Mattress Dimensions in Inches

Queen Size 60″ x 80″
King 76″ x 80″
California King 72″ x 84″
